Holding overnight on a funded account

The flat-by-close rule is the default in futures

Most futures evaluations require every position closed before the session ends, usually with a hard auto-liquidation a few minutes before the daily close. That single rule eliminates swing trading, multi-day trend following, and any strategy whose exit is a level rather than a clock. Forex and crypto accounts are far more likely to permit overnight positions, which is why the balance of this list leans that way.

Permission is not the same as free

Carrying a position overnight on a CFD account incurs swap or financing charges, and on crypto those can be material over a multi-day hold. The rule allowing the hold says nothing about the cost of it. Check the financing terms alongside the permission if your average hold runs past a session.

Weekend holding is often a separate rule again. A firm can allow overnight and still require flat by Friday close.

Only positive confirmations are listed

An account appears here when its published terms state that overnight holding is permitted. Where no cited source states the policy either way, the account is left off rather than assumed — an absence in the record is not permission, and treating it as such is how traders end up auto-liquidated at the close.

How to use this list

Compare first, then review current terms.

These pages are filters, not blanket recommendations. Open the firm review, compare the exact account type, then check current terms through the offer link.

Can you hold prop firm positions overnight?

It depends entirely on the account. Most futures evaluations require you flat before the close, while many forex and crypto accounts allow overnight holding. The accounts listed here publish terms permitting it.

Does overnight holding include weekends?

Not necessarily. Weekend holding is frequently governed by a separate rule, and some firms permit overnight positions Monday to Thursday while requiring flat by the Friday close.

What happens if I hold overnight when it is not allowed?

Most platforms auto-liquidate the position at the cutoff, and repeated breaches can fail the account. The liquidation is at market, so the exit price is whatever the close gives you.

Why is a firm I use missing from this list?

Accounts are listed only where published terms confirm overnight holding is permitted. Where the terms are silent, the account is left off rather than counted as allowed.
