Buyer guide

Why the activation fee matters more than the sticker price

The fee that hits after you pass

An activation fee is charged to turn a passed evaluation into a live funded account, and on many futures firms it is monthly, not one-time. A $99 evaluation with a $130-a-month activation fee costs far more over a funded year than a $165 evaluation with no activation fee at all.

This list filters for futures account types where the published activation fee is zero, so the price you see is closer to the price you pay.

No activation fee is one cost win

Zero activation is one cost line in the full bill. Evaluation price, reset fees, platform and market-data fees, and payout timing still vary. Keep the account score visible next to price so a no-fee plan is compared on rules too.

Check the live fee model

Firms move between activation-fee and no-activation-fee models often, sometimes as a limited promotion. FirmFax records the published fee at review time, but check on the firm's own site whether the no-activation path applies to the account size and product you are buying.

How to use this list

Compare first, then review current terms.

These pages are filters, not blanket recommendations. Open the firm review, compare the exact account type, then check current terms through the offer link.

Does no activation fee mean the account is cheapest overall?

Not always. Evaluation price, reset costs, data costs, and payout rules can still make one account more expensive than another.

Why are watch firms included?

Watch firms can appear when their account rules match the filter. Their score includes the current status adjustment.

Is the activation fee usually one-time or monthly?

It varies by firm. Some charge a single fee to open the funded account; others bill it monthly until you hit a payout milestone. A monthly activation fee is the one most likely to erase a low evaluation price, so check which model applies.

Can a firm add an activation fee later?

Yes. Fee structures change, sometimes when a promotion ends. FirmFax logs rule and pricing changes on each firm profile, but review the current fee on the firm page.
