Futures news guide

Futures prop firms that allow news trading

Economic releases move the index and rate futures hardest, and futures firms are split on whether you may trade them. This page filters to futures accounts at firms publishing no news restriction, ranked by account score.

News rules on futures evaluations

Why the rule is stricter on futures

Futures firms run simulated evaluations on live data, and a release is where simulated fills and real fills diverge most: spreads widen, the book thins, and a fill that would never have happened in the pit clears instantly in sim. That gap, not the risk of you winning, is why so many futures firms fence off releases. Firms that allow news trading anyway are usually the ones with tighter fill modelling behind them.

The drawdown model decides how much the rule costs you

On an intraday trailing drawdown, a release spike that goes your way and comes back can breach the account without a single losing trade closing. On an end-of-day or static account the same move is survivable. So the news policy and the drawdown model have to be read together — permission to trade a release is worth much less on an intraday trail.

The drawdown column below tags each account so the two rules can be compared at once.

The sim-funded stage is where the rule changes

Futures firms carry no risk while you are being evaluated and every risk once the account is sim-funded, so the news rule frequently changes at that boundary. MyFundedFutures permits Tier 1 releases on all of its evaluations and prohibits them outright on Rapid Sim Funded and Pro Sim Funded, with a two-minute no-position buffer around every release at both stages.

Accounts on this page are at firms whose rules are unrestricted at both stages. A firm that permits news only until you are funded is left off rather than listed with a footnote, because the reader who needs the rule is trading the funded account. Where a firm publishes both halves, its profile states them separately.

Activation fees still apply

News permission says nothing about cost. Many futures firms charge a monthly activation fee to open the funded account after you pass, which can outweigh the evaluation price over a funded year. Read the activation column alongside the entry price before choosing on the news rule alone.

How to use this list

Compare first, then review current terms.

These pages are filters, not blanket recommendations. Open the firm review, compare the exact account type, then check current terms through the offer link.

Can you trade the news on a futures prop firm account?

At some firms, yes. The accounts listed here are at firms whose published rules place no restriction on trading around high-impact releases. Many other futures firms enforce a short blackout window instead.

Which releases move futures the most?

For index and rate futures, the largest scheduled movers are the Federal Reserve rate decision and press conference, CPI, and non-farm payrolls. Those are also the events most often named in restricted-news lists.

Does news permission carry over to the funded account?

Not always, and where it does not, the firm is kept off this list. MyFundedFutures permits Tier 1 releases on every evaluation and prohibits them on Rapid and Pro Sim Funded accounts, which is the shape this page screens out. Accounts listed here are at firms whose rules are unrestricted at both stages, on every account type they sell, and under any dated clause they publish.

Is trading a release a good way to pass an evaluation?

It is one of the faster ways to fail one. Slippage on a release is real even when the fills are simulated, and on a trailing drawdown a spike you give back can breach the account. Permission is not encouragement.
