News-rule guide

Prop firms that allow news trading

Most firms restrict trading around scheduled releases, and the restriction is usually a blackout window rather than an outright ban. This page lists firms whose own rules place no news restriction at all, ranked by account score.

How prop firms actually police news trading

Three policies, not two

Firms fall into three camps on news, and the middle one is the largest. Some allow it outright. Some prohibit it. Most sit in between with a blackout window — typically one to five minutes either side of a high-impact release — during which you may not open or close a position. A flat "news trading allowed" claim hides that middle group entirely, which is why the window is tracked as its own state here.

Only firms in the first camp appear below. Where a firm publishes a window, it is on the news restrictions page instead, with the length of the window shown.

The penalty is usually the payout, not the account

Breaching a news rule rarely fails the account outright. More often the firm voids the offending trades, removes the profit from your balance, and in repeat cases withholds the payout. That makes news rules a payout risk rather than a survival risk, and it makes them easy to overlook until the withdrawal is refused.

If a release-driven strategy is your edge, read the funded-stage terms rather than the evaluation terms. Several firms allow news trading during the challenge and restrict it once you are funded.

Partial permission is not on this list

A news rule can be partial in three ways, and a firm is excluded here if any one of them applies. It can vary by stage: MyFundedFutures permits Tier 1 releases on every evaluation and prohibits them on Rapid and Pro Sim Funded accounts, and Alpha Capital and BrightFunded each run an unrestricted challenge with a five-minute funded window. It can vary by product: E8 Markets places no news restriction on E8 Pro or E8 Signature while barring trading five minutes either side of a release on a funded E8 One. And it can vary by purchase date: Blue Guardian bars news trading outright on Instant Standard accounts purchased from 13 November 2025, while the older five-minute wording still printed above it on the same page governs only accounts bought before then.

The reason for excluding rather than footnoting is simple. A list gets read, screenshotted and quoted without its caveats, and the trader who acts on the headline is trading a funded account, on whichever product was cheapest, bought this week. Each firm's own profile has room to state which half of a split applies to which account; a list does not.

What counts as high-impact varies

Firms define the restricted set differently: some name a specific calendar, some say "high-impact" and leave the source unstated, and some cover only a handful of releases such as NFP, CPI, and rate decisions. Where a firm allows news trading outright the definition stops mattering, which is part of why traders search for this filter in the first place.

Rules here change more often than most. Check the current terms on the firm page before building a release strategy around a listing.

How to use this list

Compare first, then review current terms.

These pages are filters, not blanket recommendations. Open the firm review, compare the exact account type, then check current terms through the offer link.

What is a news trading rule at a prop firm?

It is a restriction on opening or closing positions around scheduled high-impact economic releases. Some firms ban it entirely, most bar trading inside a short window either side of the release, and a minority allow it with no restriction.

Why are so few firms on this list?

A firm qualifies only when its published rules state no news restriction anywhere: at either stage, on every account type it sells, and under any dated clause. Firms with a blackout window, however short, are listed separately rather than counted as allowing news trading, and a firm that permits news only during the evaluation, only on one product, or only for accounts bought before a cut-off date is excluded entirely.

Can one firm run different news rules on different accounts?

Yes, and it is common enough that a firm-level answer is often meaningless. E8 Markets publishes no news restriction on E8 Pro or E8 Signature and a five-minute blackout on a funded E8 One. Firms also date their rules: Blue Guardian bars news trading on Instant Standard accounts purchased from 13 November 2025 while leaving the older window wording on the same page. Check the rule against the account type you are buying and the date you buy it, not against the firm.

What happens if I trade a release when it is not allowed?

The usual consequence is that the trades are voided and the profit removed, with the payout withheld in repeat cases. Some firms will close the account outright. The exact remedy is set out in the firm's prohibited-conduct terms.

Can a firm allow news trading on the evaluation but not once funded?

Yes, and that split is common. Read the funded-account terms rather than the challenge terms if news is central to your strategy.
